A beautiful ritual is a safe ritual.

Many creations within The Gothimore are handcrafted, small-batch, botanical, flame-based, or intended for personal and ritual use. Please read and follow all instructions, warnings, and ingredient information provided with your product.

By purchasing and using a Gothimore product, you are responsible for using it only as directed and exercising appropriate care and common sense.

Candle Care & Safety

Always trim your wick to approximately ¼ inch before every burn, including the first burn.

An untrimmed wick can create an excessively large flame, smoke, soot, uneven burning, and excessive heat.

Before lighting your candle:

Trim the wick to approximately ¼ inch
Remove wick trimmings, matches, herbs, debris, or foreign material from the wax
Place the candle on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface
Keep the candle away from drafts, vents, fans, curtains, fabrics, paper, and other flammable materials
Make sure the candle is well away from children and pets

Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Do not move or handle a candle while it is burning or while the vessel and wax remain hot.

Keep burning candles within sight and extinguish them before leaving the room or going to sleep.

Never use water to extinguish a candle.

Give Your Candle Room to Breathe

Do not place burning candles too close to one another or beneath shelves, cabinets, plants, decorations, or other objects.

Allow adequate space around and above the flame.

The candle vessel may become hot during use. Do not touch or move the vessel until it has completely cooled.

The First Burn

For the best performance, allow the wax to melt toward the edges of the vessel during the first burn when reasonably possible.

This helps encourage an even melt pool and may reduce tunneling during future burns.

However, never continue burning a candle simply to achieve a complete melt pool if doing so would exceed the product's recommended burn time or create an unsafe condition.

Safety always comes before candle appearance.

Burn Time

Follow any maximum burn time instructions provided with your particular candle.

As a general practice, avoid excessively long continuous burns. Extinguish the candle if the flame becomes unusually large, flickers excessively, smokes, or if the vessel becomes excessively hot.

Allow the candle and vessel to cool completely before trimming the wick and relighting.

When to Stop Burning Your Candle

Do not burn your candle completely to the bottom of the vessel.

Discontinue use when approximately ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom, or earlier if directed on the individual candle.

Burning a candle with insufficient wax remaining can cause the vessel to overheat.

Never continue burning a candle if its vessel is cracked, chipped, damaged, or otherwise compromised.

Ritual & Dressed Candles

Certain Gothimore candles may be prepared, dressed, fixed, or decorated with botanicals or other ritual elements.

Botanicals, herbs, flowers, resins, decorative materials, and other additions can ignite when exposed to flame.

Before lighting, follow the safety instructions accompanying your individual candle. Where instructed, remove loose decorative materials or botanicals from the immediate area surrounding the wick.

Never allow herbs, flowers, matches, wick trimmings, or other debris to accumulate in the melt pool.

If any botanical or decorative material catches fire, produces an unexpectedly large flame, or otherwise causes unsafe burning, extinguish the candle immediately and discontinue use until the condition has been safely addressed.

Spiritual intention never takes priority over fire safety.

Ritual Oils

The Gothimore ritual oils are for external and/or ritual use only and are NOT intended for consumption.

Do not ingest ritual oils.

Follow the directions provided with your individual product. Avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes, and sensitive areas.

Keep away from children and pets.

Certain oils and botanical ingredients may cause irritation or sensitivity. If a ritual oil is intended for skin application, follow the product directions and discontinue use if irritation occurs.

Do not apply oils to a burning candle or open flame.

If a ritual oil is intended to be used with a candle, follow the accompanying directions and apply it only while the candle is completely extinguished and cool.

Nail, Body, Hair & Grooming Products

Use cosmetic and personal care products only for their intended purpose and according to their individual directions.

Avoid contact with eyes unless a product is specifically intended for that area.

Discontinue use if irritation or an adverse reaction occurs.

Customers with known allergies or sensitivities should review available product information and contact The Gothimore regarding a specific ingredient concern before use.

Keep products securely closed and store them according to the directions provided.

Tinctures, Teas & Ingestible Botanicals

Only products expressly labeled and sold by The Gothimore for consumption should be ingested.

Never consume a ritual oil, candle preparation, cosmetic oil, fragrance product, or other product simply because it contains herbs, botanicals, or naturally derived ingredients.

Use tinctures, teas, and other ingestible botanical products only according to their individual labels and serving directions.

Do not exceed the stated serving or recommended use.

Review ingredients and warnings before use.

If you are pregnant or nursing, take medication, have a medical condition, have allergies or sensitivities, or are uncertain whether a botanical product is appropriate for you, consult an appropriate qualified healthcare professional before use.

Keep tinctures and other ingestible products out of reach of children.

Products marked Adults Only / 18+ are intended only for adults.

Storage

Unless otherwise directed, store Gothimore products in a cool, dry location away from excessive heat, moisture, and direct sunlight.

Keep lids, caps, droppers, and closures securely fastened when products are not in use.

Do not use a product if its packaging appears unexpectedly damaged, compromised, or contaminated.

Children & Pets

Candles, ritual oils, tinctures, essential oils, botanicals, incense, cosmetics, and other Gothimore products should be kept safely away from children and pets unless a product is specifically identified as appropriate for them.

“Natural,” “botanical,” or “herbal” does not automatically mean safe for children or animals.

Never allow a pet to lick or ingest a product unless it is expressly formulated and labeled for animal use.

Allergies & Sensitivities

The Gothimore creations may contain herbs, botanicals, essential oils, fragrance components, carrier oils, waxes, resins, and other ingredients.

If you have a known allergy or sensitivity to a particular substance, please contact The Gothimore before purchasing or using the product and identify the specific ingredient of concern.

Certain formulation details, preparation methods, ratios, fragrance compositions, and ritual processes are proprietary to The Gothimore. Required ingredient and safety information will be provided as applicable, while proprietary formulation information will remain confidential except where disclosure is required by law.
